I love January!
Christmas is over. The kids are on holidays and we can fill our days as we please.
Gives me more time in my day, therefore time for creating!
I loved the challenge set by Show us your stuff.
It was a mood board and I had the perfect photo for it!
I've been playing with my Dylusions inks of late, so decided to give them a go with
this challenge. I unscrewed the lid and used the sprayer hose...the bit inside the ink
to create this background. I saw Dyan Reaveley's video about using your ink like
a drawing tool.
I used that idea to create a strip, sort of like a firework.
Then I flicked it around to make
the splotches!
Loved the result!
Left it to dry, then ran my sewing machine up and down
with black cotton and a few across bits too.
Added my photo, lettering, journalling, a few
bits of paper and washi, so not as to cover too much of my background.
I also used some
very old rub ons that you can see near the stitching. Some splotches in black.
My handmade item is the diamond looking page pebble that I made a few years ago but
had never used.
On it went, along with the "funny" pebble. Makes me laugh when I
see this pic, as we had such a
fun time on New Years!
Lastly, time for sequins. I never use them on layouts, so why not?
Best part was I had them in the colours I needed!
So, here's my layout...
