Friday Foto

It's friday, and the first week of school is over. It's the weekend...Yay!

I'm off to the Opening of a new Scrap store tonight.
It should be a fun night. I'm looking forward to it!

Here's my pic from today.
Had a little play in photoshop on this one!

I hope the Southerners are coping ok with the heat.
I can't imagine it being as hot as it has been...low 40's is about our hottest ever.
Although the humidity can be a killer up here, and it's just starting raining again.
I think we're in for another muggy night.

Enjoy your weekend!

Back to School today...

Zac went back to school today. He's in Grade One this year.

He was up early and woke everyone, I might add.
At least I was on time on the first day, despite a flat car battery. LOL

We met Miss O'Sullivan, who is his teacher this year.
After being so excited early, he was a little apprehensive about his surroundings. I think because it was all new to him. A new classroom, a new teacher, some different kids as well as some that he was with in Prep. He sat next to his little friend Jack, which made him feel right at home.
On pickup this afternoon, he was fine. He'd had a good day and learnt what his classroom routine was and how to spell Joeys...that's his class name.
He was very proud of himself!

Before we headed off this morning, I had to take the ritual "first day" pics, and Miss Ella wasn't missing out, although I did get a few of Zac on his own too.
Check out Ella's smile...LOL

I hope your day was a good one!

We're back...

I'm back from Tamworth. We pulled into our driveway about 5.30pm last night.
We've had a catchup day today, with a mountain of washing to do.
I'm getting there, though. The suitcases are unpacked and we're ready for another busy school year.
Zac starts back on Wednesday and can't wait.
I'm not to sure where 6 weeks went??

I had a ball again this year in Tamworth.
It was hot as usual, but no worse than home. We even had some rain.
It seemed Sydney was coping it a lot worse that the country. Our hottest day was about 35, not 40 the Western suburbs were having. I don't envy them.

We did the usual things we normally do. Shopped in Peel St, listened to the buskers(some great, some NOT so great! LOL), bought some new music, went to the Rodeo, out to dinner, spent time with Jase's family and saw the legendary Lee Kernaghan and the very cool Adam Brand in concert!!
Definately the highlight of our trip. I have to drag Jase to his midnight show every year, but we always have the best time. He secretly loves Adam Brand's music as much as I do!
We also dragged Jase's cousin, Jeni and Uncle Brian(who's 64) to this years show and they both had a ball...even with the 3am finish!!
Adam Brand celebrates his Birthday on Australia Day and on the Friday night of the Festival he has his Birthday bash and it's one of the must see shows of the festival...I love it!!

Here's a little sample of the very talented Adam Brand.

We were very excited to hear he won "Male Country Singer of the Year" and he won for "Best Album". Jase and I think his latest "Blame it on Eve" album is his best yet. We also found out he has a new album out in March...Woohoo! Can't wait!!

I hope you had a great Australia Day.

Look out Tamworth...Here we come!

I'm all packed and ready to go. We leave in the morning bound for Tamworth, NSW.
We'll be staying with family and going to the Country Music Festival.
It's become our yearly pilgrimage! LOL

The kids are all excited. They can't wait to see Nana and Uncle Brian.
They spoil them rotten so that's probably why! (he he)

I did Scrapchat's One little word for this week...just in time before we leave, as I'll miss out next week.
Our word this week was "life".

Chat to you all next weekend!

Friday Foto

Half of January is nearly over...can you believe it??

It's a stinker here in Brisbane today.
We've been out to the movies this morning to see Hotel for dogs. The kids loved it. A nice feel good movie about dogs. I have to admit...I shed a tear. LOL
A good story, and quite funny in parts! :)

Here's today's photo, for Friday Foto...

I thought I'd share some work that I've done recently. This was a sketch Challenge on my Yahoo group...I even used up some older papers, which feels good!

And I've been trying to finish off my Gratitude Journal from last year. It was a challenge on Scrapchat, but I fell behind. I only have a few to go now.
This page was entitled "Relationships that may a difference".
I did my page about the gorgeous girls at Scrapchat that have become very near and dear to me...I love them to death. Twice a year we spend the weekend together...scrapping our hearts out and enjoying each others company!!
Thanks guys, you rejuvenate my soul!

I'll share the complete album when I get it finished.

Have a happy Friday and a fabulous weekend!
I'm busy getting ready for our trip away.
It's getting closer!

A night out at the Cricket

I went to the 20/20 Cricket at the Gabba last night.
I've never been to a cricket match before, so we thought the 20/20 would be a good test. I love sport, so of course loved the cricket. It's just the goings on that were a little different.
Having been to many a Lions game, it was very different.
Footy crowds are a LOT tamer than Cricket crowds.
There's plenty of drunken yahoos at the cricket, who, I'm sure barely watch any of it. Some young guys near us got a stern talking to by police and were like timid little mice by the end of it...good to see.
When you take your 5yr old, it's not what you want them to hear!
Zac loved it...I think he loved the atmosphere the most. Lots of music, cheering and excitement with a 20/20 game.
We saw a few catches right near us, as well as some 6's so that was exciting!

Apart from the wait for a bus(to and from the Gabba), being overcharged for dinner and my Pepsi exploding on me...it was a good night!! LOL

Last night they had a send off for Matthew Hayden, who retired yesterday. The crowd gave him a standing ovation, which was really nice. He was quite teary chatting to the Commentators.
A great career comes to an end, while others are just beginning, with David Warner.

The Transformation has begun...

Jase and my BIL Barrie started lining the walls in our rumpus room and my Scrap space today. It's looking great already.
We built this area in several years ago(externally), but hadn't got around to finishing it off inside.
Jase and I decided this year was it, 2009...time to finish some projects off around our place.
While the kids were little it made things harder, so now they are a little older we are getting it all done, and I can't wait!
I can't wait for it all to be set up properly, with room to move....that's very exciting.
We have a colonial "Queenslander" style home with VERY limited storage, so it will be nice to have some storage space and a lovely area to hang out together and of course scrap.
My BIL Barrie is a Cabinet maker so he had lots of cool ideas to utilise the space...Thanks Baz!!

Here's the boys hard at work...

I'm loving how it looks.
Painting is top of the list for me tomorrow!

Before the Scrap area was pulled apart I managed to do these two layouts.
The One Little Word Challenge at Scrapchat this week was "Words".

And a Colour Challenge from my Yahoo Group...using Orange/Green and white!
Not a combo I use often, but I like this layout...suited it perfectly!

My desk is still operational, thankfully!
I couldn't imagine not being able to play! LOL

I hope you had a good weekend!

Game On and Friday Foto

Zac and I met up with Aunty Trace and cousin Mel today to go and see "Game On".
It's an exhibiton here at the State Library....The history of Video Games.
From good old Pac Man to the new Wii. I even had a go at Guitar hero, and it's official...I suck! Hey Mel?
Pac Man was a hit with the older game players, so we could'nt get on that, but we did play Space Invaders. I remember the old game in the corner shop way back when! Old memories there!!
The kids played plenty of games, old and new...and so did Trace and I! LOL
I'm not sure who was having more fun in there...the kids or the parents!
It was a fun day out!
You can read about Game On here.

A few pics from today.
The 2 Slurpie addicts...Mel and Zac!

And one before we headed for home...My gorgeous boy and me!

It's friday, so here's a new pic of me, for Friday foto!

Here's todays...before heading into the City!

I also wanted to wish my good friend Tanyah a very Happy Birthday for today!
Hope you had a good one!

A new Layout!

I did this layout on the weekend. It was for a challenge at Scrapchat.
The "one little word" weekend Challenge. For 2009, a word is put up Sat morning and you have until 6pm Sunday night to scrap it!

This week's word was "angel", and it had to be in the title!

Here's my layout...

The title is...She's an angel in disguise.
Ella was actually dressed as a fairy! LOL

I've had a retail therapy day today at Chermside. I got a heap of vouchers for Christmas and my Birthday, so I wanted to spend some. That was fun.
Then, we got Zac organised for school with new shoes, dress shorts and some contact for his books...the usual stuff!
We've had a nice day out! :)

I loved it!

After all the hype, I had to see it.
I'm talking about the movie "Australia".

Here's the trailer if you haven't yet seen it.

I went tonight and saw it, and loved it.
Made me cry 3 times, but it was worth it....the whole 3 hrs of it!
They had some funny bits, some sad bits and plenty of drama.
Hugh is great eye candy, and Nicole always does a great job.
The little boy who plays "Nulla" has a big future ahead of him. He was fabulous!

When on holiday in the Whitsundays in May 2007, Jase and I drove up to Bowen to see the "pub" featured in the film as Darwin in the late 1930 - early 1940's. It looked exactly the same, and seeing what Bowen looked like during filming, I can see where they digitally enhanced the ocean and the jetty is a lot longer than it really is. It's amazing what they can do.
We watched them run the cattle through town the day we were there, and loved that scene...very cool!

Here's my pic I took of the pub back then!

So, I'd give it the big thumbs up, if you haven't seen it.

DT Share

I did some layouts just before Christmas for Anna's Craft Cupboard. My latest Step-by-Step is on the Blog now...you may have to scroll down a little!
All the steps to complete this layout are on the blog!

Here's my layout...

and 2 more using new October Afternoon - Weathervane papers!

The new January kit at Scrap'n'Craft with T is up for sale.
The delightful Leanne Stamatellos created the kit this month, and it's delish!

I also did another layout for my kit last month, using the Basic Grey - Ambrosia papers!

We had a quiet weekend. A little rain here in Brisbane, which made a nice change from the heat the past week! Lots of Wii, scrapping and blog surfing!!
I hope you had a good one!!

It's 2009...

My first post of 2009...Yay!!
I hope you had a lovely New Years.
We had a fun time at a Cocktail Party, with too mnay drinks, but a fun time just the same. I caught up with family and friends, laughed, sang, ate and drank the night away!!
Yes, I awoke on New Years Day to a pounding drum in my head, but nothing some Panadol and Berocca wouldn't fix! LOL

WE then headed to my Mum's for Christmas with my family. My sister and her family as well as my Mum and Dad went to Tangalooma, so we had a late celebration. It was stinking hot here in Brisbane yesterday, so most of it was spent indoors, until the kids could stand it no longer and we headed out!

Ella got the cutest Dolls Pram from Nana and Pa(Mum and Dad) along with a heap of other goodies, but the pram was a huge hit! My sister Kellie and family gave Ella a little makeup table with lots of girly goodies like makeup and lipstick(all pretend-thankfully), and it came with this pair of shoes...plastic shoes, and Ella loved them. Check this photo out of her outside pushing the pram with the shoes on!! Too cute!!

Here's a close-up of the shoes...Wrong feet and all...LOL
She's worn them most of today, too!!

Zac got plenty of new goodies, from the Operation game, to clothes and Lego!
But, Pa has not long bought the kids a Remote Controlled car for them to play with out at Mum and Dad's, as they have the best driveway for it!

Well, Zac loved it and spent ages outside driving the car around.

A fun day was had by all.

Now, today's the first Friday in 2009, and I said I was going to do something a little different to my flashbacks this year. The thinking cap has been on for several weeks, and I've come up with a plan!

I wanted to do the 365 day Challenge where you take a pic of yourself each day, but I'm not sure I could stick to that??
So, I've decided to do a Friday Foto and each friday, I'll upload a pic I've taken of myself during that week. Sound like fun??
That way, I'll have heaps of new pics of me! As, I'm usually the one taking the pics, it'll be nice to have some of me in them!
Wish me luck??

Here's today's...

I've done a little scrapping this afternoon, so I'll post that tomorrow!
