I've had a busy day preparing for a big event coming up. I'll shre all about that soon.
Then, I had some time to play.

This is my cute little niece, Amelia. It was her first Birthday party late last year, and she sampled her very first lemonade icy pole. She loved it!!



Scrapchat is doing a Monthly Challenge using the "She" quotes.
I'm doing them on large playing cards for something a little different.
Here's my January one...She pursued big dreams instead of small realities.

Creative Day

I had a Creative day today...gotta love that!
No commissioned work, just for me, because I wanted to and did it feel good??
Hell yes!!

I did a canvas for my daughter Ella's room. Have been meaning to do it for a while and finally got to it. I finally used these gorgeous diecut Butterflies from K&Co.

Here's the finished piece...

A close up of one of the butterflies. I actually put tulle under about 5-6 butterflies to give them a textured dreamy look.


Then I put together this layout in record time...for a double!!
Can you believe I only used scraps on this one...no big pieces of pp, all very different from one another!!
I love it when it comes together so easily!


I even tried out some cute flower embellishments, that I'm teaching in an upcoming class!


My little offsider was creative today too.
Here she is painting...Cardboard of course!!
She was very proud of her finished artwork. It's pride of place in her room tonight!


Ella even let me take a few snaps of her.
I like this one, she was dancing! LOL

First Digi of 2009

It's this month's Digi Challenge at Scrapchat. It's also the first digi I've done this year, so I found out!!

Flags at half mast...

Our National Day of Mourning for the victims of the Black Saturday bushfires.
Such a sad and tragic event, to take place in our lifetime.

May the victims find peace and comfort from today, as they slowly rebuild their lives and look to the future.

I love the way we have united and supported the people who have lost everything. Given what we could at their time of need.
It makes me very proud to be an Aussie!

We had a busy visiting day today. We headed up to Mum and Dad's this morning, to drive in the driveway and find a flagpole in the front yard!! A secret they had kept...the kids were very excited about it! So, the flag above is my Mum and Dad's flagpole with the flag at half mast, as a sign of respect.
Mum and Dad live on acreage, so the kids had fun running wild out there.

Then, onto Grandma's and Grandpa's for a visit, before arriving at Aunty Kel's for a well deserved swim. The water was beautiful, and the kids had a ball. They always do.
They love the pool, and are fast asleep in bed as we speak.
A big day for both of them!

Oops...

Guess what??
I missed my very first friday foto yesterday! OOps!

Actually I didn't.
I did think of it late yesterday afternoon but it was storming so there was no going out to take a nice pic. You'd have one with wet hair and soaked. That's not so flattering is it??

I did head outside this morning and snap this pic.
Here's me, bright and not so early!! LOL
It is Saturday, after all...my sleep-in day!


Today's been hectic. Zac had a Birthday Party at lunchtime, then Little Athletics this afternoon. We watched Get Smart tonight on DVD. He fell asleep 20 mins in. It was a big day for him!
The movie was OK...typical Control/Kaos drama.
I think the 60's show was funnier!

I'm off to do some scrapping!

The Weekend Wrap

I've spent a good part of the weekend sorting through scrap supplies, after my new bench is in and useable. I'm still waiting on some shelves for my cupboards, but that's ok. DH is happy I'm not on the kitchen table any more...I have my designated space ready and working again!
I've been busy working on projects for the magazine, so I can't share just yet.
I did have a play with some pics, just for fun!
Gotta love that!!

Friday Foto

It was lovely to wake up this morning to the sound of rain, and I mean heavy rain. Something we have been lacking here in sunny Brisbane.
So, it's been a cooler day too, which is nice.

I gave blood this morning. I hadn't in a while and the recent bushfires with burn victims needing lots of blood, got me off my butt and donating. I usually donate at the mobile van, but the Red Cross Blood service has just opened a state of the art Donating Centre at Chermside. Very new and very swish, with all the mod cons. It was great!
I asked the nurse who looked after me, if they had had more donations since the bushfires and she said they were run off their feet, and working plenty of overtime. She said it was great that Aussies wanted to help others out in a time of need.
Makes me proud to be Aussie when I hear things like that!

Now, onto today's Friday Foto.
Seeing it was wet, I couldn't go outside so this is the best of them!
I've put an overlay over the top by SDesigns. I'm liking the effect!

A Hospital visit

My good buddy Leanne and I visited Tanyah in hospital today.
We are both on Tan's Design Team at Scrap'n'Craft with T, and Tan's a great friend to me.
She's been up here in Brisbane having a major operation, and I can report is doing very well. We spent a couple of hours with her this afternoon and she was all smiles.

I'm glad we could cheer you up Tan, and you sure are well on the way to recovery.

A sad time

I'm really feeling for the Victorians and those in NSW at this very sad time.
So much has been lost in these horrific bushfires. From homes to lives. I have shed many a tear since Saturday. Know I'm thinking of you all.

I couldn't imagine losing everything I owned, or even a loved one in such horrific circumstances. I don't know how I'd cope or rebuild my life?

Say a prayer for all involved...the people who live there, the firefighters, relief staff and neighbours...just to name a few.

I encourage everyone to give a donation to these people, via the Red Cross...to help to rebuild their lives...no matter how big or small. It all helps.

Friday Foto

It's been a busy week and I'm about to head to bed...I'm exhausted!
My laundry is nearly finished, apart from a cupboard and some painting and tiling. I'm hoping to get it painted over the weekend. It's going to be another busy one!

I thought I'd share some cute ATC's I made for a swap over at The Stamp Shak. These had a Summer theme. I really like the finished result. I'm in love with these Fancy Pants stamps atm! Been using them on lots of things, sadly nothing I can share just yet!

Flourish

I went with my good friend Leanne to the Opening of Flourish, a new Scrapbooking store in Brisbane. It's located in Kenrose St at Carina.
A beautiful new store, set out perfectly, and the entrance is just divine.
It's a Photo Shoot waiting to happen. The girls are very stylish!

The ladies that own the store, Ruth and Jan were lovely and very welcoming.
It was lovely to meet you both and your friendly staff.

The wall of Bazzill is quite spectacular and they have plenty of yummy product to choose from as well. I can highly recommend a trip over Carina way to check it out...I will certainly be going back.

The rest of the weekend was Go, Go, Go!!
Yesterday Zac had a little friend's Birthday party, so we dropped him off and I went and had Coffee with some of the other School Mum's. It was nice to catch up. We are usually rushing in and out dropping or picking up kids, so it was nice to have a chat and relax.
Then home for lunch then out again at 3pm for Little Athletics.
Zac had a Running Race, his 2nd ever at Little Athletics and he came 2nd and was quite proud of himself. They also had there first turn at Discus. Quite funny to watch, but they got the hang of it!
Then home to mow the yard, have dinner and I scrapped the night away watching the Finale of McLeod's Daughters. I'm going to miss that show. I've watched it from Episode One...I'm sad about that!

Today Jase and I have worked downstairs all day.
Working on our Renovation, and will be for quite some weekends yet! LOL
I painted mainly, but helped Jase with sheeting the walls as well.
A big job, but we are getting there. It'll be worth it in the end.
