A nice quiet day

I've had a lovely quiet day today.
My sweet Sister-in-law, Amanda took the kids bowling, along with their big cousin, Melanie. They had a fabulous time and the kids behaved...Thankfully!
They had a nice lunch and pulled into our driveway around 3pm. Nice for them and nice for me. A lovely little creative break for me!
I spent the day catching up on a layout and created a Canvas for a friend who's turning 40 on Wednesday, and is having a special celebration on the weekend!! I'm looking forward to it!

Here's what I did today...
My Round 4 layout on Project Scrap - away over at Scrapchat!
We had to create a layout abouts omeone we have great respect for, who is older than us. I chose my SIL, Tracey.
I know she's reading this tonight, so I'll put the journalling here for her to read:

I have great respect for my Sister-in-law Tracey. She endured a less that perfect childhood, but did well at school and is a nurse these days. She has a mothering nature, which I think is from being a child and looking out for her brothers and younger sister. She always makes sure you are ok. We've shared many a cuppa, visits, shopping trips and plenty of Girls nights out! She never says a bad word about anyone. She's a loving soul and I love here to bits. She's like a sister to me. September 2008

Now, if I know Tracey...she'll be in tears by now. That wasn't my intention. Just wanted to let her know how I felt and that she a very special person to me!!

Here's my layout for last week's Project Scrapaway - Round Three.
I did it quickly last weekend before heading away, but haven't shared it yet!!

Here's the canvas...for Ralph...I think he'll like it!
He's actually in the pic..on the left. The boys go up to the Gympie Muster every year, for some bonding, or so they say. Just a big "drink fest" if you ask me!! LOL

Here's what I've been up to...

An ATC swap. The theme was "Swirly Curly"....very spring looking!! LOL

Our getaway

We had a fabulous time away, up the Sunshine Coast. Twin Waters is such a beautiful spot. We hardly left the resort...so much to do there.
We swam, ate, walked up the beach every day, played in the sand, rode bikes, had a afternoon nana nap each day and generally chilled out! I loved it. I think it was just what the Dr ordered. Some much needed time together.
It's the start of Jase's busy season at work, so he'll be working plenty of long hours from now til Christmas. The joys of the Blind and Awning business!

Here's some snaps from our time away...
Me just lazing around!

This is the view from our apartment...I love this pic. No fighting, just enjoying the view and an ice cream together!

A very cool kite surfer...these guys fly on top of the water!!

Twin Waters lake...it's such a beautiful place!!

Flashback Friday

It's the end of another week, and the start of the school holidays here in Qld. We weren't planning on too much, but Jase has a few days off early next week, so we are going to make the most of it. We're off to Twin Waters up the sunny Coast. The weather is supposed to be warm...29/30 on the weekend, in between showers. It's muggy today, already. Imagine what it'll be like in a few month's time?

Anyway, I can't wait. Lots of chillin', swimming, eating and relaxing...just us and the kids. They are very excited...especially about the beach!

On to today's flashback...

It's from 2001, on a trip to Seaworld! There is a story behind this pic!
It was before kids, and some friends of ours were married, and away on their honeymoon. They had 2 boys at the time(now they have a little girl as well) and I picked the boys up and took them down the coast to meet up with Mum and Dad on their honeymoon. We gave them the accomodation as a wedding gift. So, we all went to Seaworld for the day...lots of fun, but Jase couldn't come. You see, he broke his ankle on the Bucks night...yes, the Bucks night, and I had to rush back to Ipswich(I was at the Gold Coast for the Hens night) and sit in a hospital for the majority of the day, under the weather(from the Hen's night), waiting for them to plaster Jason's leg! Very exciting!! In the end I had to help the nurse,(gown and everything) as there was no one else available...can you believe that??

To cut a long story short...it was a great day at Seaworld, and this photo reminds me of that time in my life...6 weeks of driving my dear husband to work!!

Have a wonderful weekend...whatever you get up to!
Catch you next week some time!

The Weekend Wrap

We've had a quiet weekend, well sort of.
I might do dot form...it's easier! :)

*Watched a good movie(Never give up) on Friday night with DH and a bottle of red wine...and made some felt flower embellies.

* Pancakes for brekky, with my 2 little helpers. Lazy morning, and I only got out of my PJ's about 11am...gotta love a Sat morning like that!

*Sat afternoon we went to Little Athletics, as Zac was trialling to see if he liked it, which he did...very much! Although very exhausted, he can't wait til next week!

*Sat night my nephew Michael came over, we watched another movie(not as good as Fri nights), I made some more Yo-Yo's(see below), watched some footy and played the Wii. All up early Sun morning...Jase walked down to the cafe down the st with the kids and had brekky.
I went for a bike ride with my SIL, Manda. We were both exhausted when we got back, but it was well worth it.
A better experience that Thursday when I went for a ride...apparently it's magpie season and no body told me!! A psyco maggie hit me 6 times in the helmet, then stalked me all the way back up to the main rd. The people who work in the buildings across the St must have been in fits of laughter...I was visualising it riding home. You can just imagine can't you?

* So today, we've just chilled out. Haven't done too much. I had some scrap time this afternoon, creating these 2 layouts. They are for a Cyber crop my Yahoo Group is having this weekend.

I've also been making some little embellies for the Scrapchat Craft Exchange.
I've currently got some felt flowers and fabric Yo-Yo's up for auction.

Here's a little of what I've been making...

Friday Flashback

Today's flashback is from Easter this year. We went to Australia Zoo with my Mum and Dad and my SIL, BIL and niece. We had a fabulous day, which brings me to today's pic. Ella is in love with koalas, so when the photo opportunity came up, we jumped at the chance to cuddle a koala. He was so soft!

I also have another CJ to share. This one is for Melissa in WA!
I hope you like it, Mel!

I'm also participating in Scrapchat's Project Scrap-Away comp. We have to create a layout each week on the requiremnts asked of us.
Scrapchat is having some technical issues atm, so we hope to be back online shortly!

Here's my entries for Week 1 and 2...

Week 1 - Monochromatic blues

Week 2 - About a significant event with hidden journalling

I hope you are having a great friday!

It's Book week

It's Book Week at Zac's school.
We went to a Sausage sizzle for the launch of Book Week and Prep Night school on Monday night. We got a few new books and have read all of them already!

So, today was the Costume Parade. The kids had to go dressed as their favourite book character. Now, what a decision this was, but we decided on the Big Bad Bunny. Zac loves this book, all about a bad bunny that turns good! LOL

Here's his costume...

I was quite proud of myself making gun belts and carrots out of felt. After all, I'm a scrapbooker, not a dressmaker!! LOL
They all turned out pretty good!

I thought I'd share a CJ I completed today. It's a CJ Swap over at Scrapchat and it's for Gypsyangel. Hope you like it, Gyps!

Relay for Life

I participated in Relay for Life, here in Brisbane over the weekend.
For those that don't know....Relay for Life is one of the Cancer Council's major fundraisers for the year. The idea is for people to sponsor us, then we walk for 18 hrs...from 3pm til 9am next morning. Yep, we walk right thru the night, with little sleep!
Our team went as Witches and Wizards for the second year running, but this year, we won the Costume prize! Woohoo...it was worth sewing skirts the weekend before.
We all had fun dressing up, then trying to keep warm. It was terribly windy on Sat, but thankfully died down a bit by night fall...thankfully!
I was prepared for a blizzard, and had enough clothes to dress an eskimo...LOL
At least I wasn't cold!

Here's some pics...

A few of the Witches and a Wizard from our team

Me and my SIL Tracey

Tracey and Gyps walking the final 30 mins of the Relay

Gyps and me

And we'll be back next year to do it all again!

Ella is 3...

Our Ella turned 3 on Saturday.
Yep, she doesn't like to be called "bub" anymore. While doing the grocery shopping last week, she kindly told me it was "Ella, not bub". LOL
She sure is growing up. Talking all the time...Hmmm...I wonder where she gets that from??
(To my family, don't answer that!! LOL)

She got some lovely presents, with some of her favourites, her new Diego laptop and her Fairy outfit. She looks so cute in it!

Here's Ella blowing our her candle on her cake...

It's become a bit of a tradition in this house, when it's your birthday you have to pick a cake from the Cheescake shop. So, Sat morning the kids and I made the trip and Ella decided on a Gold Mud cake...Yum! The girl's got taste!
Anyway, while I was waiting to pay, Ella was telling the man behind us that the gold mud cake was the best one, and "you should buy one". Can you believe he bought that one?
He said "How could I buy anything else when he had a recommendation like that for a cake??"
Made me laugh!

I've had a big weekend with Realy for Life, but I'll tell you about that tomorrow.

Flashback Friday

The end of the week...again!

Today's flashback was from back in from March 1994. I was 19 yrs old, I had just met Jase and was attending his brother Scott's wedding... now he's my BIL!

From left to right...Nigel(a good mate of Jase's from school), Nerida(Nigel's sister and my good friend, who was also one of my bridesmaids), me, Beef(or Darrin...that's his real name...LOL) and Kare(Darrin's wife, although they are not together these days and my good friend).

I had only know Jase a few months when Scott got married.

Huge news....

I've had a call today from Cassie Bellemore at Scrapbooking Memories Magazine.
Can you believe...I'VE MADE THE TOP 50!!!!!!

I'm so VERY excited and am on top of the world, right now!!

Now, the long wait begins til the magazine is released...in mid-December...for the Top 10 Masters 2008 to be revealed.

I was really hoping for a Top 100 finish. Then, they cut it to Top 50 and thought my chances walked out the door...but today, I feel very good about all that hard work and late nights I put into my projects. It was all worth it to make that list!!

I am estatic, to say the very least!!

So, Thankyou to all my gorgeous friends in the "Scrap World" for their wonderful phone calls, PM's and emails that I've had this afternoon...it means a lot.

Scrapchat Craft Exchange

My good friend, Gypyangel who runs the Scrapchat forum has added the Scrapchat Craft Exchange to the site. What's that all about you may ask?

Well, it's like Ebay...a place to buy, sell or swap craft supplies without the fees.
Cool huh?

To make things more exciting this month, Gyps is running a competition for buying or selling on the site during the month. You could win $50 worth of Scrap supplies, but you have to leave a comment on Gyps blog to go into the draw!

I have some cute little handmade birdies up for sale at the moment.
Go and check them out!!

Good luck...you may just be the prize winner!!
