Off to Prep...

Our little man, Zac started Prep today. He was up early, fed, dressed and ready to go by 7.30am!! A little excited, to say the least!

So, Daddy, Ella and I headed off to school for Day One drop off. It was pouring rain when we left home, but it had stopped by the time we got there, thankfully, so I got a couple of photos of Zac and his new classmates. His new teacher is Miss Nucifora and Zac just loves her.

So, when class started all the kids turned around to wave goodbye and blow Mum and Dad a kiss, and that was that! No Tears at all, from him or me!! Not one child in Zac's class cried, although I did see one Mum with a tissue, wiping her eyes.

After we got our cue we headed down to the tuckshop to have a morning tea...they have a "Tea and Tissues" morning for new parents. So, after a drink and a biscuit it was home to fill in the morning, before pickup at midday.
The new Preps at Zac's school only go til lunchtime for the first 2 weeks, to get them ready. There were some weary eyes when I got there to pick Zac up.

Here's a few photos...

Our trip to Tamworth

I think I'm nearly caught up. Had a busy day today with washing and housework while Jase and Zac mowed the yard and cut back some trees. We were only away a week, and the lawn was so long! The trees, Jase has been putting off til holidays. My front yard looks much bigger with the tree in the front yard cut back. It looks great!

Anyway, about the holiday...
We went to Tamworth for the Country Music festival and had a fabulous time, as usual! We caught up with Jase's Nana, Uncle Brian and saw his Aunty Elaine and Uncle Noel.
Tamworth is always so busy at this time of year with plenty of bands, buskers, singers, cowboys, and dare I say it...line dancers! Everyone's in a good mood and enjoying the many shows around town.

I was lucky enough to see Lee Kernaghan on Wed(totally by accident) when we were at the Longyard, which is where the Golden Guitar is. We headed out there to see the Noll Brothers(yes, they are Shannon Noll's brothers) and they are pretty good, too!

They had a mystery guest each day and we just happened to be there when they said Lee Kernaghan would be performing. How excited were we??

He only sang a few songs...a bit of a warm up for his big Concert in the Park in the middle of town on the Thursday night. They had a huge lineup of big stars, like James Blundell, Jimmy Little, the McClymont sisters, Colin Buchanan, Adam Brand and Steve Forde to name a few.

This is the McClymont sisters...

Steve Forde, Adam Brand and Lee...singing The Spirit of the Bush.

Over 20,000 people turned out. The show was free, and they raised money for Outback Relief. They released a song called Spirit of the Bush, and all money raised from the single goes to the fund. It's a great cause to help our struggling farmers, who are doing it tough. The kids loved the Concert. Zac and Ella were up dancing and playing air guitar! A top night out! They had a huge fireworks display at the end of the show that was pretty impressive, too.

I was very excited to hear Lee had won Australian of the Year. A very deserving Aussie, who does so much for the Outback with his Pass the hat fundraising concerts. He's a very inspiring and humble person who thoroughly deserves such an accolade.

My SIL Tracey and my niece Melanie also came down to Tamworth. So, I had a buddy to go out with most nights! Trace and I went and saw the Wolverines. What a great night. The Wolverines sing some very funny songs, and keep the crowd clapping for more! It was the first time I'd seen them, and I thoroughly enjoyed their show! After the show, we headed out to the bar and saw a band with an awesome fiddle player...she played a mean, Devil went down to Georgia! Hey Trace??

Then Friday night I dragged Jase to see Adam Brand. We first saw Adam Brand about 10 yrs ago, when he was a little unknown and he was in the Legends bar at Wests Leagues Club. Now, he's so big, he's a paid concert and fills major venues with his following of fans! It's his Birthday on Australia Day, so at the stroke of midnight, he has a Birthday bash! He's great to see...excellent show! So, Jase and I left there around 2am, looking a little tired! Was so worth staying up for that show!!

Then we did the usual things, like headed down Peel st, which is the main street in Tamworth. It is totally blocked off for the Festival and is only pedestrian access. The buskers line up all the way down the street. Some are good, others not so good! We saw a few good ones, like Juzzy Smith, who plays the guitar, harmonica, a drum, digeridoo and a maracca all at once...very impressive! He was a finalist in the Busking Comp, but we didn't hear who won it.

Here's a few snaps from the week...

Off on holidays!!

I'm off on holidays tomorrow morning. We're heading south, across the border to Tamworth, NSW. Yeehaw!! Yes, we are going to the Country Music Festival, as well as visiting Jase's Nana and hope to catch up with family down there. His Aunt's and Uncle's still live down there. My SIL Tracey and my niece Melanie are heading down too. Should be heaps of fun, although the long drive doesn't excite me. We bought the kids a DVD player for the car, so I'm hoping it does it's job!

I've been hosting the first ever Cyber crop at The Stamp Shak this weekend. Lots of lovely ladies doing plenty of gorgeous layouts and cards!! That's what I like to see!

Here's my samples for the Cyber crop Challenges...

I'm addicted to my Dymo at the moment...Can you tell?

We're also doing Elsie's 52 Challenges, so here's my Challenge Two...Focus on one photo!

I am happy to say, I've completed my first tutorial and assignment in my Bookeeping course I'm doing this year. So, I can go away without worrying about that. My second Tutorial arrives in the first week of Feb!

I'm heading out now, to drop our cat, Reuben at his holiday destination..the Cattery!! They spoil him rotten. He loves it!

Chat to you all when I get back!

A special gift

We are going on holidays next week, and we're staying with Jase's Nana in Tamworth. Yep...we're heading down for the Country Music Festival. Should be heaps of fun!!

I took a great pic of Nan with Zac and Ella, when she was up here in Brisbane in September. So, I thought I'd make her a canvas to put on her wall. I think she'll love it...

Computer Issues

It seems like ages since I blogged. But, I have good reason. My computer's LCD screen died last Friday, and DH(and our accountant) has been telling me that I needed to buy a new computer. So, on Saturday morning, after feeling very left out of cyber world, I came home with a brand spanking new computer. DH set it all up for me on Saturday. I think I'm in love. It has a 19" screen, and is super fast...just love it!!

Had a busy weekend, with a friend's 40th Birthday on Saturday night. The kids had a sleepover at Grandma and Grandpa's. A great night was had by all at dinner, plenty of drinks and lack of sleep!! We don't go out that often, and after yesterday I know why I don't go out that often!! Not from feeling hungover but more from lack of sleep! From the drinking side of things, I know my limits these days!!:) Something you learn with age!!

Zac and I headed out to see The Water Horse late yesterday. He's been asking to go and see it since before Christmas. It was quite good, although a little dark in parts, but on the whole, quite good.

We have started Elsie's 52 Challenges at the Stamp Shak Forum today. Here's my layout for Challenge One...Work those words.

New layouts to share...

Hope you had a lovely weekend. After having so much rain, it's been hot, sticky and very humid, here in Brisbane!

We've had a lovely weekend, not much on Saturday, just chores, mainly.
Sunday we had some friends over for a visit. They are up on holidays from Canberra. We always see them once a year, around Christmas time when they head back home to Brisbane, to visit family. Their boys are 10 and 6 and have grown heaps in the last 12 months. Always great to see them!
We hope to catch up with them next weekend, before they head home.

I've done some scrapping, but some I can't share til the January Cyber crop over at The Stamp Shak. It's being held on Friday 18th January. It's the first one ever, being hosted by me!!
This Wednesday the 9th January we are having a Free online class to launch our classes online. There's still time to pop over and Sign Up for it. You'll have to register to be able to participate. Here's the link! Also being taught by me!!
Hope to see some of you soon over there!!

Here's a few layouts to share with you...

This one's for my friend Peggy. I created this layout for her with photos from her daughter's 5th Birthday!

This one's for the January Sketch Challenge over at Scrapchat.

A digi I did for the January Digi Challenge at Scrapchat. The kit is from Sande Krieger's Embrace Life Kit. Really liked this kit...so versatile!!

and another one from the same kit...about the wild weather here in Qld last week!!

Flashback friday

It's still friday...just! LOL

Here's a photo from our trip to Bali, Indonesia back in 2000. We had a fabulous time. Met some great people, had some good nights out, great food, shopping...and everything's cheap. The only catch is you have to "haggle" for everything. By "haggle" I mean barter. If you don't barter well, you'll get ripped off!

Do you know the plastic bag system in Bali??
A guy we met over there filled us in. When you go shopping, if you haggle well, you'll get your goods in a black shopping bag, if you don't haggle well, you'll get a striped or coloured bag. That lets other stall holders know that you're an easy target and will rip you off big time!! We were much wiser after we knew that. As soon as you see your goods going in to a striped bag, you back away from the deal and barter, downwards!!

This pic is from the traditional Balinese Ceremonial dinner they had at our resort. Excellent night, with food, plenty of wine and dancing!!

How red was my hair back then??

A visit to Pop's

We had a visit to Pop's(Jase's Dad) over on Macleay Island today. It's in Moreton Bay. Can I say, the weather was less than impressive.

We headed over early and got drenched waiting to get on the boat!! So, we had an indoors day. The kids had fun, playing Magnetix, drawing and playing games. Pop has a good house for hide and seek...lots of cool places to hide!!

Here's a few pics from our wet day...

A New Year...

2008...What a year it's going to be! My little man starting school, with having only Ella home, it's going to be a big year for changes. I'm sure we'll adapt!

I created a banner for my blog this morning. It's a New Year, so I thought I'd make a change. Do you like?? I'm pretty happy with it.

I have been keeping a tally of my layouts over the past year, and I've reached 155!!
That's a lot of late nights.(LOL) The count's back to zero now...we'll see how we go this year!

With the wet and wild weather here in Brisbane since late last week, I've got a bit of scrapping done.
There's a few, so I'll share over the next few days. Here's the first few...
