Flashback friday

Well, it's that time of the week again, when I post an old photo and you get to have a giggle at me! I love fridays!!

Today, I've chosen a photo from about 2000, and it's me, with my two sweet sister-in-laws, Amanda and Tracey(Jase's sisters). We go to the Ipswich Cup in June every year, and have a ball. We catch up with old school friends and people we don't see that often because we live in Brisbane. Heaps of fun, and quite a few drinkies are always had!!

In other news, I've entered an Inspiration Challenge over at Little Scrapbook Shop. We had to create a layout with doodling as our inspiration. Right up my alley, to say the least!! This is what I came up with. A layout about my gorgeous niece, Melanie!

Have a good friday!!

February Gratitude Journal

I've done my February page in my Gratitude Journal, that we're doing on Scrapchat.

Our theme this month was Prayer of Thanks. Hmmmm...a bit of thinking on this one, but I got there. I decided to create my layout about our diggers and thank them for the sacrafices they made for our country, our freedom.

Here's my page...

It's raining here in Brisbane tonight, and it's quite cold. I have a jumper on. A little different to our 40 degree day on Saturday! You just can't pick it.

I've been tagged!!

I've been tagged by my blogger friend Julie!!

Thanks Julie...I like this one!! :)

You must post the rules before you give your answers. You must list one fact about yourself for each letter of your middle name. Each fact must begin with that letter. If you don't have a middle name, just use your maiden name. After you've been tagged, you need to up-date your blog with your middle name and answers. At the end of your post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and need to read your blog for details).

My middle name is Leanne ... here goes:

LOVE ... living in sunny Brisbane!!
ENJOY ... a good movie, especially a comedy!!
ALWAYS ... find time to scrap!
NEED ... to train my children to pick up their own toys.
NEARLY ... been married for 10 yrs.
ENJOY ... Seafood! YUMMO!

Now I tag...Scrapmanda, Gypsangel, Jodie, Pam, Nic and Maz.

Book of me

Well, I've finally started it...my Book of Me!! My Yahoo online group have starting a Challenge this year and every month we'll get a new topic to scrap about in our Book of me. This has been on 'the list' for a loooong time, so it's nice to finally start it.

This month we had to scrap a pic from our first year...birth to one year old.
Here's mine...

It amazes me how much I look like Mum in this pic. She's 20 in this photo. I think I'm seeing double!!

As for the weekend, today was a lot cooler here in Brisbane. It was only 31 today. A little better than 40 degress yesterday!! We went to my sister, Kellie's for lunch and a swim. Nice and relaxing before we get back into routine for the week!

Lucie's Pool Party

We've been at Lucie's 4th Birthday party at the pool today. It was well timed, being Brisbane's hottest day of the year at 40 degrees...OUCH!! The party started early and we didn't get home til after 3pm. We were enjoying the cool, refreshing water, like the rest of Brisbane were. I have never seen our local pool with that many people. We had to fight for a carpark!

Here's some pics...
Lucie, the Birthday girl after blowing out her candles

Ella

The pool has this cool pelican. The buckets fill up with water until overflowing and then the bucket tips the water on whoever is standing under it. The kids loved this!

Tipping the water out

Zac being dunked with water!!

We had a great day, although I'm a little on the roasted side! Hopefully I won't peel!

Flashback friday

I've been a bad blogger this week, but I have an excuse. I was struck down with a horrible gastro bug, but am back on the mend now!

Tonight I'm hosting the February Cyber crop over at The Stamp Shak. I hope you can join in, even if only for a chat! Our theme this month is SCHOOL!!

I've been out this morning for a shop at Paper Addiction at Lawnton with some of my good friends from Scrapchat. It was lovely catching up with Manda, Sarah, Ali, Peggy and her daughter Patricia. We had a yummy lunch and a chit chat which is always nice.
Love catching up with you guys!! :)

Now, onto today's flashback friday! I pulled out a pic from my apprentice days of hairdressing. I must have been about 4yr at this stage or nearly finished...not sure?? My boss, Donna used to take us out for Christmas and it so happens my Birthday and her Birthday are only days apart. So we used to go at the start of Dec, seeing we have Birthdays in late Nov! We always had fun...and overate!!

From left to right...my good friend Catherine(our 1st yr), my boss Donna, her Mum Betty and me! A short "Gwenyth Paltrow" hairdo for at that time, and I loved it!

Powerscrap Sunday

Each Sunday, Heidi sets a Challenge over at Scrapchat, that has to be completed within 2 hrs. Today's Challenge, we had to do off a sketch and scrap about a famous person who shares the same Birthday as us. What fun, this would turn out to be. She gave us 2 sites to check your Birthday and to find someone!!

Well, I never knew I share the same Birthday as Anna Nicole Smith!! How cool?? Plenty of pics to choose from on the net!!

I completed the challenge in an hr and a half!! Not bad, at all. Usually takes me longer than that!! L9oved this Challenge, Thanks Heids!!

Here it is...

CJ's galore

I've just completed my fifth CJ in 3 weeks!! I've had fun doing them...nothing like sinking your teeth in!!
These are for Maz and Anne Marie...both WA girls! So, look out they'll be heading west next week!!

Here's Maz's page...

and Anne Marie's page...

I hope you both like them!! :)

I've been out shopping today. My sister Kellie, Dino, the kids and I headed to Chermside on a mission. Our cousin, Tim, is getting married in April down in Daylesford, Vic. My sis(Kellie) didn't want to leave it to the last minute, so we were mainly looking for her! I think she's glad she took me shopping. She bought the most beautiful suit from Myer today, with a little encouragement from me!! It's something she would never have bought by herself, but looks fantastic on her. I loved it! A pretty penny too, but so worth it!! Gotta love Myer.

Apart from that, Kel's family stayed and had homemade pizza's for dinner with us. They were YUM, too!! Michael(my nephew) is having a sleepover, as he's going to work with Jase in the morning for some extra pocket money! I bet they'll be home by lunchtime, all worn out. LOL

Flashback Friday

It's friday again!! The week's seem to be flying at the moment!

I've been a good blogger lately, trying to post each day. Gypsyangel at Scrapchat has challenged us to blog every day. I think I've only missed a few days!! So, I'm not doing too bad!

Ok, today's flashback, is me and my first car...a red Datsun 180B named Bertha!
I got my license and had to have a car. After a few weeks of borrowing Mum and Dad's, they decided I needed a car, too!!
Dad spent many a weekend with his head underneath the bonnet...right Dad? That's when I went out, too many spanners being thrown around and a lot of yelling from under the car!! LOL She was a good car and took me everywhere I wanted to go!

This must have been back in 1992, I think??

Goodbye Smoky Dawson

How sad it was today to hear the news that Smoky Dawson had died. He has been such an icon in the Country Music industry. He had a rough start to life, with his Mum dying of a Mystery illness and his brother Les, drowned in the Yarra River. He ran away from home at age 10 and the rest as they say, is history! You can read some more about him here.
At 93 yrs of age, he had a good innings.
We haven't seen him in Tamworth for a few years now, but he was always there. He was always in the Parade down the main street, on the Saturday morning.

I didn't know he grew up in Warnambool, Vic. Warnambool was about an hr away from where I was born, in Portland, Vic. Find out something new every day!

RIP Smoky...1914-2008

Underbelly

Jase and I have been glued to the TV for the past 2 hrs watching the new series, Underbelly. It's all about the Melbourne Gangland wars and we both find it quite intriguing. They amaze me with their crimes and that they would turn on a mate and shoot them in cold blood. I thought they were all about loyalty? Apparently not!
It was worth the wait and was great. Can't wait til next week!

I have a layout to share. We have been doing Elsie's Challenges on The Stamp Shak forum and this week's we had to embellish a flower. I used a Sculpey button.
Here's my layout...

Little Scrapbook Shop Cyber Crop

Anyone who knows me, knows I love a good Cyber crop. Nothing like getting the brain thinking to come up with a layout suited to the Challenge!

This weekend, LSBS had their CC and the theme was LOVE. Valentines Day is just around the corner, after all! I got 2 layouts, a card and a Digital layout completed. Not bad, seeing I wasn't home half the weekend.

Here they are...
This was the layout sketch. I had fun with the title. I hand drew it, then used pastels to add some colour. Very happy with the effect. Will be doing that again!

The card sketch

This Challenge was something that I had never done. A sad event in our lives. I had to scrap about something that was endured by love, and had to have hearfelt journalling. It's nice to document the not-so-nice sometimes. It shows how you grow as a person.

and the journalling...

My digi, which had to have a black and white pic, pink or red and the word "love" somewhere. I loved this kit by Rhonna Farrer and was busting to use it. I did it on little Miss Ella!

A day out visiting...

We headed out this morning, to catch up with a friend who was up from Tassie. We only saw her a month ago, at her nephew's Birthday. It was lovely to see her and the kids got to have a play at the park...lots of fun!

Then we stopped by Jase's brother, Scotty's place to see his family. It was Scotty's Birthday while we were away in Tamworth, so we hadn't caught up with him yet.

Little Miss Amelia has changed so much. She's 4 mths now and is rolling over, lifting her head and making lots of noise. She's just adorable. Ella is absolutely fascinated with her.

Here's the boys...Zac playing the Nintendo DS and Seth playing cars! LOL

Griffin, the eldest cousin was at the pool, so we only saw him for a few minutes.

I've finished another CJ this week. This one's for Witchy! Hope you like it!! :)

Have a good week.

Flashback Friday

Today's flashback friday...and haven't I got a treat for you!
I was a little slack last week, and forgot about it totally, til Sunday night! LOL

This pic would have been taken mid-nineties I'd say!
Permed hair was in, obviously!! LOL

You will probably recognise this guy, in the pic with me and my sister-in-law Tracey, although we weren't SIL's back then. I was dating Jase though!
Anyway, back to the story...The guy in the pic is Ben Dark, who's a TV presenter on Getaway now. But back then, his career was just beginning on Brisbane radio. He was the famous "Bushpig" here in Brisbane, who was well known for his crazy stunts and larrikin behaviour! A very funny guy!

The pic was taken at a Charity morning for Lifeline in Ipswich. The warehouse had burnt down and people were donating to raise funds for the new building.

You'll probably get a laugh out of my very dated hairdo...I did!!

CJ to share...

I finished another CJ over the weekend. This one is for Pam over at Scrapbooking Memories.
We had to scrap a page about our Mum. Here's mine. My Mum saw it last night and loved it!

It's been raining here in Brisbane...I'm very over trying to dry clothes for a household of 4!! It was starting to be ridiculous! So, I went out and bought a dryer this morning. The poor girl hasn't stopped since I plugged her in this morning!! :)
At least I don't have an excuse now, for having no dry clothes!!

Want to hear a funny story??

With Jase being home on holidays this week, we borrowed my parents ute to do a few dump runs, with trees we had cut back. It's a Toyota Landcruiser ute and it has a canopy.
Jase had done a load to the dump on Friday, then loaded up Saturday again to do another load this morning. So, off he went. He got to the dump and backed up to the pit you throw everything into when one of the attendants came wandering over. Jase thought he must have parked in the wrong place, so he got out to chat to the attendant. The attendant was laughing and said "Do you own a black cat?"
Jase said "Yeah". "Well, he's poking his head out of the canopy in the back of the ute", said the attendant. Jase couldn't believe it and had to catch our cat, Reuben and put him in the cab...much to everyone at the dump's amusement. The guy unloading next to him laughed and said the area for dumping live animals was over there!
Then Jase had to head to the weigh bridge where they weigh your vechicle. Rube was up on Jase's lap waving his tail in his face and looking out the open window. The guys in the weigh station couldn't stop laughing. Made their day, I'm sure??
Jase said he kept looking out the front window with his paws on the dash all the way home. He was laughing when he walked in the door...Our Rube has been on quite the adventure today!

In other news...a quiet weekend here. I gave blood yesterday, did my SIL Tracey and a friends hair today, then visited my Mum and Dad and delivered the ute and popped in to see my Sis and her family on the way home. Actually, today was quite busy!!

Here's my samples for this month's Challenges at the Stamp Shak. Our layout had to be photos from last Christmas, and the card had to use the scraps from your layout.

I also want to wish my cousin, Tim a very Happy Birthday for yesterday. I didn't forget...he turned the big 30 yesterday. Happy Birthday big fella!!

I also wanted to wish my little cousin Scott(or not so little..he's much taller than me...but younger) a fabulous trip OS. He's off on an adventure of a life time, starting off in Canada and working his way down to Jamaica, Miami, New York, then off to London to travel Europe. Wow...he's going to have so much fun. Have a great time, and I'll be checking your blog to find out what you've been doing.
